What is an ecovolunteer?
Ecovolunteer, green volunteer, conservation volunteer, by whatever names you may name us: we go for holidays with a mission. Ecovolunteers are financial and working grants for wildlife projects in research, conservation and animal rescue. Part of the work, sometimes most of the work that you will do, is only possible thanks to your financial and physical contribution.

Who are ecovolunteers?
Ecovolunteers are people who care about nature, wildlife and animals.

How you may help?
As a volunteer you support a project in two ways: by working and by paying. Depending on the project, you have to be available for one to four weeks. The length of your stay, your previous education and your experience will determine the kind of work that you do.

A minimum of 77% of the price is transferred to the conservation organisations that operate the ecovolunteer projects. This money covers your participation and contributes to the project's organisation, as well as the continuation of the research and conservation efforts. Additionally three per cent is used to keep up the Ecovolunteer websites and the webmarketing, only up to 10% of the price is used for the development, management and maintenance of the Ecovolunteer Programme organization.

Testimonials from some of the participants
… "We began the day at dawn, going out to collect the elephants from the forest. After riding them back we'd feed them, and then go off to have breakfast ourselves. At 10 we'd go back, clean out the enclosure, give the elephants a wash with the hose and then take them out to forage ... after lunch we'd clean the enclosure again (they're messy animals!!!), and then go swimming in the lake with the elephants. We'd then take them out into the forest again, leaving them there for the night ...
It was absolutely fantastic - one of the most fulfilling experiences of my life."

…"In the mornings, we would prepare the food for the animals (chopping fruit and vegetables for primates and bats.) Then we delivered feed to the farm animals and the fruit to the primates. In the afternoons, we would work on various projects - building new enclosures, repairing cages, designing enrichment for the cages, etc ... We would also sort the loads of produce that came from the stores. There was also routine maintenance on the grounds to be done.
We typically finished in the evenings between 5:00 and 7:00 depending on the weather and what we were doing. We ate dinner together and had free time to socialize at night.
It absolutely did live up to my expectations - it was hard work, but fun and fulfilling and a great experience working together and getting to know other people working for the same cause.!"…
